The County Executive Committe (CEC) member for water in Murang’a County Paul Macharia and three others have been acquitted of assault and property damage charges.

The four were charged with malicious damage of property belonging to Murang’a and Sanitation Company (MUWASCO) and assaulting the company officials.

The court heard that Macharia alongside Samuel Mwangi, Nicholas Karweru and Stephen Chege assaulted Margaret Wairimu among others mentioned in court on August 27.

On the particular date, Governor Mwangi Wa Iria stormed MUWASCO offices after disagreement with the management of the company on water distribution in the county.

The prosecution failed to produce the said damaged property that the magistrate would have used in the ruling of the case.
