Kibwana, Mutula clash over graft allegations in Makueni county
Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has accused his Senator Mutula Kilonzo of political witch-hunt by linking him to corruption.
Kivutha said Mutula and Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina are using the Senate’s Public Accounts Committee as a kangaroo court.
The governor also dismissed the petition alleged to be from a Makueni resident that links Kibwana to corruption. The document was tabled by Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina.
“We have seen a document in circulation which has apparently been tabled at the Senate sittings by Senator Ledama ole Kina purporting to have received the “petition from (faceless) residents of Makueni,” governor Kibwana sid in a statement.
On Thursday, Senate County Public Accounts and Investments (CPAIC) invited the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives to investigate Governor Kibwana over award of 12 multi-million projects which are suspected to have been used to siphon public funds.
Kibwana also accused the Senate PAC Committee of wrongly implicating him in absconding an invite while he had informed them of his absence.
Kibwana posted leaked WhatsApp conversations between his senator Mutula Kilonzo Jr and among other people on his official Facebook page. A message allegedly authored by Ledama Ole Kina terms ‘Kibutha’s 40 days as over’.
Recently, Kibwana has been receiving social media appraisals over development projects posted on his various accounts.
