Trans Nzoia professionals warn politicians against misusing youth

Trans Nzoia professionals have warned youth against being used by politicians aspiring for various seats in the 2022 election to cause violence during funeral services.
They said those misusing the youth should be investigated and asked to account for their actions.
“Why should a politician misuse youth by giving them Sh50 to cause mayhem and torture political opponents in funerals? We should not be seen wasting our energies in causing chaos to scare off our perceived opponents,” said Ali Afula Abubakar.
Speaking to the People Daily in Kitale during an interview, he asked security apparatus in Trans Nzoia county to investigate an incident where Sitatunga MCA and Health Committee chairman Daniel Kaburu was ejected out of a funeral in Kiminini sub-county.
He said times of retrogressive political vendetta were long gone and added that politicians need to empower youth to venture into development projects for self-sustainability.
Trans Nzoia county professionals chairman Tolometi Makhanu also condemned hooliganism among the youth and told off politicians misusing youth to disrupt funerals.
”It is very unfortunate that politicians can stoop too low allowing their goons to misbehave as witnessed today. This must stop and those involved asked to carry their cross,” he said.
Kiminini Ward MCA David Kisaka and his Hospital ward colleague condemned the attacks on their colleague and called for action against those behind the chaos that left the family of the bereaved in fear.
“This uncouth behavior where a section of politicians intoxicate youths to insult, intimidate, and physically rough up elected members must stop. We are demanding that a political aspirant from the neighboring Saboti constituency be held responsible”, said Wafula.
Trans Nzoia county police commander said police had launched investigations and said no one irrespective of the position will be spared.
