Uhuru reshuffles PSs
President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday evening made changes in his government that affected nine Principal Secretaries.
State House spokesperson Kanze Dena-Mararo said the changes were made “to enhance efficiency and service delivery.”
Major General (Rtd) Gordon Kihalangwa moved to the Public Works Principal Secretary from Immigration. He was replaced by Ibrahim Mohamed, who has been in charge of Environment and Forestry.
Betty Maina (Industrialisation), replaces Mohamed at the Environment department. Francis Owino, from Public Service, will take Maina’s place at the Industrialisation office.
Julius Korir, hitherto PS for Infrastructure, replaces Francis Owino at Public Service. Korir’s place was taken over by Prof Paul Maringa, who had been in charge of Public Works.
Prof Fred Segor, was moved from Irrigation to Wildlife Services. He was not replaced immediately.
At the same time, the President merged the State Department of Crop Development with that of Agricultural Research to create the State Department for Crop Development and Agricultural Research.
He consequently transferred Prof Hamadi Boga from State Department of Agricultural Research to head the merged ministry.
