Police escapes lynching after burglary claims

A police officer attached to Litein Police Station in Bureti sub-county, Kericho, narrowly escaped lynching by a mob that suspected he was a burglar.

Area police commander Felician Nafula said corporal Stanley Otieno Oyulla was rescued from the mob by colleagues on Sunday morning, adding that he  sustained cuts to his knees and head.

Residents of Kimugul village attacked the officer after a home- owner raised the alarm when he saw him walking around his compound. Nafula said police were investigating the incident.
