Kenya has confirmed three more cases of coronavirus, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said on Wednesday. Currently, Kenya has a total of seven confirmed cases.

A Kenyan couple and a Burundian national are the newest cases of the disease.

The couple had travelled to Spain through Dubai and finally to Kenya.

The Burundian national was detected at the port entry through temperature screening.

“Today, we have received confirmation of another three cases of coronavirus. Following tests, we now have seven confirmed cases,” said Kagwe.

The CS noted that all the seven cases in Kenya have been imported.

In the latest three, a couple that had travelled to Madrid, Spain through Dubai arrived in Kenya on March 5 showing symptoms thereafter.

The Burundian arrived on March 17 and was picked by the surveillance team through temperature screening at the airport.

Kagwe announced the ministry of health is tracing people who might have come into contact with the newest confirmed cases

So far, 18 cases have been isolated at the Mbagathi centre. Seven cases have been tested and found negative.
