Homa Bay Member of Parliament Peter Kaluma has transitioned from just being a supporter to a praise leader for US President Donald Trump.

In several social media posts, the lawmaker who was elected on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party ticket has continued to heap praises on the US President, citing his various achievements and policies.

On Sunday, February 2, 2025, Kaluma’s praise and worship song hit a notch higher by proposing the veneration of US President Donald Trump.

Homa Bay Town legislator who has invested heavily in US politics, hailed Trump for playing a critical role in securing the release of hostages which he claimed was one of his campaign promises.

This is after six Americans who were being held hostage in Venezuela were freed following President Trump’s envoy for special missions Richard Grenell‘s visit to the South American country.

Grenell met with Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro to send a warning about the consequences that would come from the continued detainment of the Americans.

Besides securing the release of hostages, Kaluma spoke highly of Trump for clamping down on LGBTQ. During his inaugural speech, Trump made it clear that the US would only recognise two genders- male and female.

Kaluma further endorsed Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigrants which he maintained was good for the growth of America.

With all those achieved within a short while, Kaluma called on the veneration of the US President.

“Promises Made, Promises Kept! Hostages being released, LGBTQ Out, DEI out, “Criminal” Illegal Immigrants out and USA southern border sealed, Gas Drilling on, Gulf of Mexico renamed Gulf of America! What a leader!,” Kaluma’s statement on X read in part.

“@realDonaldTrump should be canonized into a saint!,” Kaluma boldly asserted.

His unwavering support for Trump

The vocal lawmaker picked Trump’s side at the onset of the campaign period. The lawmaker argued that the policies proposed by the businessman resonated with his philosophies.

Through a series of social media posts, Kaluma shared deep insights into why he was backing Trump despite scepticism from some political quarters due to his harsh policies.

Specifically, Kaluma supported Trump’s gender policy which aligns with his Family Protection Bill 2023. The bill which Kaluma wrote if passed into Law would criminalise same-sex marriage and unnatural sexual acts, and would also prohibit activities that promote homosexuality.

on Sunday, January 26, 2025, he called on his fellow lawmakers to pass the Bill after President William Ruto expressed support for Trump’s gender policy.

“Thank you for this President @WilliamsRuto. There are only 2 genders – male and female. The Family Protection Bill must now be dusted off from the shelves of @parliamentkenya and be enacted into law. God Bless President Trump,” he wrote.

At the height of presidential campaigns in America, Kaluma shared photos claiming that he had travelled to the US to campaign for Trump.
