Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah has urged Kenyans to ensure each one of them bears the full responsibility of the words of the national anthem.

In a statement on Sunday, December 8, 2024, Omtatah, who has already registered his interest in the presidency, termed the national anthem as a call to action, a prayer, and a vision for the desired Kenya.

“Inspired by the powerful words of our National Anthem, we are reminded of the immense responsibility we bear as citizens of this great nation. The anthem is not just a song; it is a call to action, a prayer, and a vision for the Kenya we desire and deserve,” he stated.

He called on Kenyans to set aside their differences and unite for a prosperous country amid the economic and political storm engulfing the country.

“Justice must be our shield, ensuring fairness, equity, and accountability for every citizen. Unity, peace, and liberty are the heart of our strength. Regardless of our differences, we are united by a shared dream of a prosperous Kenya. Through hard work and responsible stewardship, we must ensure that every Kenyan enjoys dignity and opportunity,” he added.

Omtatah on presidency

Recently, Omtatah announced his interest on presidency, and has already constituted a team of 10 people to mastermind his campaign plans.

Days after announcing his ambitions, a setions of Kenyans dismissed him, claiming that he does not have enough support base and resources to run a presidential campaign.

In response, Omtatah told them off, saying that true change starts with challenging the status quo.

“Dreams are indeed vital, but so is the courage to act on them. While politics has often been seen as a numbers game, I believe it’s also about offering new ideas and uniting Kenyans around shared values. True change begins with challenging the status quo, and I’m committed to that journey. Let’s work toward a future where leadership is defined by vision, not just tribal numbers,” Omtatah stated on November 23, 2024.
