Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has rebuked leaders inciting Kenyans against President William Ruto’s governance.
Addressing a congregation in Laisamis, Marsabit County, Kindiki stated that it was wrongful of leaders to willingly resort to extremities of politics by inciting citizens against Ruto’s leadership, he added that while it is not wrong to criticize and correct the government, the leaders should do so in a respectable and patriotic manner for the great good of the country.
While maintaining that leaders should not incite citizens against the president, Kindiki stressed that such divisive politics will not help address the challenges the country is facing, he also made it clear that leaders who uphold the behaviour are not worth the title of leadership.
“Mtu yeyote ambaye ni kiongozi ako na uhuru wa kuleta maoni vile Kenya hii ingekua bora zaidi, lakini ailetee kwa uzalendo na upendo na akiwa mtu ambaye anaipenda nchi yake tusikosoane na nia ya kuharibiana heshima na njia ya kuleta uchochezi.
“Any leader who is inciting any citizen of the society is not worth that title of leadership, wale viongozi ambao hawana cha kuambia wananchi, wanachochea wananchi na kuleta uchochezi badala ya kusema kuna shida mahali na mimi naona tutaue hio shida; ukisema hivi, utakua na heshima na watu watajua kweli wewe uko na nia njema kwa taifa letu,” the DP said.
He additionally urged all leaders who have a problem with Ruto’s governance to practice positive criticism free of incitement and hatred, and encouraged all with influence to converge their input to make the country prosperous.
“We will build it with our sweat. This country we call Kenya is the only homeland we have and we must build it. I am requesting with a lot of humility, viongozi wetu wote, tukusoane kwa upendo na uzalendo, na najua all influencers can converge their input to make Kenya a better country,” he added.
The DP further expressed optimism that the Kenya Kwanza regime will deliver its mandated roles to Kenyans and confidently underscored the government’s commitment to ensuring that Kenya becomes a prosperous nation.
“We will not let you down. This government will not fail Kenyans. We will make you proud. Let us go step by step because no government has resources for a one-day job. As we build, it is not by empty talk, bad politics, divisive words but by nurturing unity of all, so that everyone feels at home. It won’t be by politics of disunity and tribalism.”
