Reactions to bishops’ statement

More reactions to statements from catholic bishops about the failures of President William Ruto’s regime are among the news expected to dominate headlines today.

The Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) had slammed the government over corruption, abductions and increasing cases of femicide in the country.

In an address on Thursday, the clergy expressed discontent with Ruto’s administration stating that it had failed to uphold integrity and resolve the issues affecting the country.

“The culture of lies is swiftly replacing the integrity and respect that Kenyans deserve. Basically, it seems that truth does not exist, and if it does, it is only what the government says. Unfortunately, it seems that the Kenyans have helplessly tolerated the lies told to them constantly by the politicians. Kenyans must learn not to applaud or validate the lies that the politicians tell them, but rather must resolve to seek and be led by the truth.

“This culture of lies, unkept promises, and misplaced priorities is unacceptable and needs to be dealt with,” they said.

Additionally, the bishops decried that the country was facing an insecurity crisis which has led to the increasing cases of abductions and femicides, calling on relevant authorities to act swiftly.

“We are appalled by the blatant recurring incidents of reported abductions, disappearances, torture, and killings of Kenyans. We also decry the increasing murder of women.

“The government must protect the life of every human person in Kenya. It must take the lead in following the law, which the leadership took an oath to uphold and defend at all times,” the bishops declared.

KCSE continues

Students sitting their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) are expected to continue their exams today.

According to a timetable released by the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC), the students will sit for their biology practicals and biology practical large print from 8 am to 9.45 am.

At the same time, visually impaired students will sit their biology practical from 8 am to 10.15 am.
