Here is what you need to know to keep up to speed with today’s happenings.

Fuel prices

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) is expected to announce new fuel prices on Thursday, November 14, 2024.

Fuel retailers are expected to use the new pricing structure to sell super petrol, kerosene, and diesel until December 14, 2024.

During the October 14, 2024 review, Super Petrol reduced by Ksh8.18 from Ksh188.84 to Ksh180.66. Diesel price was reduced by Ksh3.54, going from Ksh171.6 to Ksh168.06.

Meanwhile, kerosene also experienced a drop, going from Ksh158.32 to Ksh151.39.

“In accordance with Section 101(y) of the Petroleum Act 2019 and Legal Notice No.192 of 2022, we have calculated the maximum retail prices of petroleum products, which will be in force from 15th October 2024 to 14th November 2024,” EPRA said in their statement.

Factors including landing cost and the dollar exchange rate would help EPRA calculate the new fuel prices.

Heavy rainfall expected

Various parts of the country are expected to receive heavy rainfall and flash floods, according to the Kenya Meteorological Department (Kenya Met).

Kenya Met says the rainfall is expected to start on Thursday, November 14, and it is likely to continue for three days.

“Rainfall of more than 20mm is expected from Thursday, November 14, 2024, in parts of Central Rift Valley, Central, including the Nairobi area and the southeast lowlands.

“The rainfall is likely to intensify to 30mm in 24 hours on Friday, November 15, 2024, over south-eastern lowlands and central parts, including the Nairobi area. It is projected to reduce in intensity from November 16, 2024, over most parts of the country,” a statement by Kenya Met, released on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, read in part.

Areas set to receive the heavy rainfall include include Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Nyeri, Kiambu, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Isiolo, and Nakuru. Kericho, Bomet, Narok, parts of Kajiado, Nairobi, Machakos, Kitui, and Makueni

KCSE Exams

KCSE exams are expected to continue on Thursday, November 14, 2024. In a timetable released by the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC), students will sit for Biology Paper 2 from 8:00 am to 10:00 am.

In the afternoon, they will take their History Paper 2 exam for 2 hours and 30 minutes.
