Awita noted that the date was arrived at following the postponement of the grassroots elections in April following the floods which affected most parts of the country.
“As all party members are aware, the NEEC pursuant to the resolution of the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) had scheduled the grassroots elections in the month of April 2024 but due to the flooding that was experienced in most parts of the country at the time, the exercise was postponed indefinitely,” she said.

The party urged the election coordinators to ensure a balance in the representation by incorporating people with disabilities.
“Persons with disabilities and minorities be mainstreamed in the three (3) categories,” she said.
In April, ODM postponed the elections scheduled for April 27, 28 and 29 after massive floods wreaked havoc in various parts of the country.
The party, however, advised the National Election Coordination Committee (NECC) to continue with logistical preparations even as they assessed the situation.
