Kindiki takes oath
Deputy President-designate Kithure Kindiki is set to take his oath of office after the High Court lifted orders that barred him from doing so.
Kindiki’s oath will be administered at Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) on Friday, November 1, 2024, as he replaces Rigathi Gachagua as President William Ruto’s deputy.
In a gazette notice, the government also declared Friday as a national holiday as Kenyans welcome the new sheriff at the Harambee Annex office.
“It is notified for the general information of the public that the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, in the exercise of the powers conferred by sections 3 of the Public Holidays Act and sections 3(b) and 12(3) of the Assumption of Office of President Act, declares Friday, the 1st, November 2024, to be a public holiday, being the date of the swearing-in of the Deputy President-designate,” the notice, signed by the acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, read.
CHAN qualifiers
Harambee Stars are set to intensify their preparation ahead of the return qualifier against South Sudan on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at the Nelson Mandela Stadium, Kampala, Uganda.
Kenya lost the first leg action when they went down to a 2-0 defeat in Juba. They will host the Bright Stars with the hope of overturning the loss and progressing to the final phase of the qualification.
