Impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has revealed chilling details regarding his recent impeachment.

Addressing the press on Sunday, October 20, 2024, the recently impeached DP who has just been discharged from the hospital disclosed that his ouster was hatched after attempts to kill him failed.

The DP, in a rather calm tone, revealed that he almost lost his life while in Kisumu on August 30, 2024, after undercover security agents attempted to poison his food.

He recounted that he was able to escape the planned assassination after rejecting the food offered by the security agents.

The second instance according to the DP, occurred on September 3, 2024, after a team from the National Intelligence Service (NIS) attempted to poison the food meant for him and a section of Kikuyu elders.

“On 30th of August in Kisumu, undercover security agents entered my room and one of them tried to poison my food, but we rejected it and were able to escape the scheme, I was supposed to be killed by food poisoning. On the third of September in Nyeri, another team from the National Intelligence Service came to Nyeri, and tried to poison food meant for me and the Kikuyu council of elders; I reported this matter to the NIS and the officers were assigned to my office,” Gachagua narrated.

Following the failed attempts, an impeachment motion to ouster him was presented in parliament.

“After these two attempts to assassinate me failed, is when this impeachment motion was hatched. When my security was withdrawn, officers from NIS have been hovering in every room in my compound to the extent I had to call my wife and children to stay in my room just incase they enter in my room. We feel exposed because this people have tried to kill us before,” Gachagua said.
