Five Members of Parliament (MPs) from Nyamira county yesterday put aside their political differences and joined hands in accusing the area governor Amos Nyaribo of allegedly fuelling leadership wrangles among MCAs.

The five, Joash Nyamoko (North Mugirango), Steve Mogaka (West Mugirango), Patrick Osero (Borabu), Jerusa Momanyi (Woman Representative) and Okong’o Omogeni (Senator) told Nyaribo to his face that he was purely to blame for the wrangles witnessed at the county assembly for the last three weeks.

County unity

The legislators warned that as elected leaders, they cannot sit back and watch Nyaribo incite the MCAs into violence because of divisive and egocentric politics which they said has posed a big threat to the unity of the county.

They condemned the political violence, which has rocked the County Assembly for the last three days resulting in the torching of a house belonging to Julius Nyangana who is the MCA for Bomwagamo ward. The house is worth Sh4 million.

Nyaribo, who was present however dismissed claims that he was the one fanning violence and animosity in the Assembly.

He also dismissed claims that he knew those who torched the house of Nyangana’s home and asked the security agents to move with speed and bring the culprits to book.

“Those claiming that I am the one fuelling wrangles are my political detractors who are always working for my political downfall,” he stated.

The lawmakers who flew to the county in a chopper from Nairobi headed straight to the county commissioner’s office where they protested about the wrangles witnessed at the Assembly.

They demanded that the county security team under the leadership of the county commissioner Erastus Mbui bring to book those behind the torching of the MCA’s house.
