All necessary arrangements including enhanced security operations have been put in place for 15th edition Mashujaa Day celebrations, which will be for the first time held in Kwale county.

The theme of this year’s celebrations is ‘Affordable Housing’ and the county has made significant progress with major infrastructure projects, including the near-completion of 12,000-capacity Kwale Stadium.

Apart from hosting the event, Kwale will also benefit from economic growth and development projects including upgrading of roads by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) and Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA).

The government has employed a multi-agency security approach, with coordination between the county government, the police, and regional security teams to ensure that every aspect of safety is addressed.

“This heightened security presence is not just for the event itself. Security in Kwale has been increased well in advance of the celebrations and will continue to be a priority even after Mashujaa Day, ensuring the safety of both residents and visitors,” the Internal Security Principal Secretary Dr Raymond Omollo said.

President’s luncheon

Alongside the stadium, President William Ruto will also preside over a luncheon at the County Commissioner’s residence, which has been transformed into a mini state lodge. According to the locals, playing host is more than celebrations.

“It is more than a celebration; it is an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the county’s potential and the projects that are rapidly transforming the region,” said Majuma Karisa Charo, a college student in the county.

The primary event will be held at the Kwale Stadium which has been renovated and undergone massive facelift to accommodate the expected 12,000 guests, including national dignitaries, local residents, and tourists.
