Duale speaks after snubbing BBI rally at his home town
Garissa Township Member of Parliament (MP) and National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has accused politicians of hijacking the Building Bridges Initiative(BBI) rally at his home town on Sunday.
While speaking at the Pastoralist Parliament Group meeting on February 25, Duale also warned that the State has not budgeted for the BBI rallies.
“I did not attend the BBI rally at my constituency because the process has been partly hijacked by politicians,” said Duale.
The MP, who is also the National Assembly Majority Leader, skipped the BBI rally that was held in his constituency on Sunday.
The MP is allied to the Tanga Tanga faction of the Jubilee Party that rallies behind the Deputy President William Ruto.

On Saturday, Duale wrote on his Facebook page that he would only attend BBI rallies where the President and his deputy would be present.
At Garissa town, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga presided over the rally.
The ODM leader promised the locals that the government would redeploy teachers in the region.
“I spoke to Uhuru Kenyatta and I will speak to him again. From next week, teachers are coming back here,” said Raila at the rally.
Other local leaders led by Garissa County Senator Yusuf Haji and his Governor Ali Korane were present.
Haji is the chairperson of the BBI task force.
Chaos marred the Garissa rally when supporters of Governor Ali Korane and his predecessor Nadhif Jama clashed.
