Nyamira Woman Representative Jerusa Momanyi resurfaced yesterday after going missing for several weeks for fear of being targeted by Generation Z protesters for supporting the controversial Finance Bill 2024.

Momanyi had been in hiding after she was targeted by young protesters in Nyamira County. Young people at one point attempted to set ablaze her residence in Nyamira town before police intervened.

Protesters later stormed her farm in Borabu settlement scheme in Borabu constituency and harvested her maize crop They had also vowed to storm and disrupt any meeting she convened in the county, prompting her to go underground for several weeks.

Yesterday, the embattled lawmaker resurfaced and hosted several youth groups from Masaba sub-county. She dished out money and footballs to support their sporting activities while apologising over her decision to support the controversial bill against their wishes.

“I am sorry about what happened, but I want to assure you as my daughters and sons that I will always be taking your advise very seriously,” she told the young people gathered at Nyagancha Primary School.
