Christie Sevens champions Kabras Sugar Rugby Football Club now lead the table with 22 points after their triumphant 17-12 win over hosts Kenya Harlequin in the finals of the first leg of the Sportpesa Rugby Sevens National Circuit at the RFUEA grounds.

Kenya Harlequin are second with 19 points following their loss in the final to last year’s national circuit runners-up.
Club chairman Victor Sudi views the setback as a source of motivation for his team.

“Losing a final is not easy; it ignites a drive in athletes that seeks revenge. Our boys will bounce back strong in Kakamega for the Ingoo Sevens,” Sudi promised after the release of the rankings on Monday evening.

Catholic Monks are third with 17 points after winning the third-place final against 2022 Christie champions Strathmore Leos, who are fourth with 15 points.

2023 Christie champions KCB were eliminated in the main cup quarter-finals by Kabras and struggled against Menengai Oilers in the plate final, winning 27-12 to secure fifth place with 13 points.

Menengai Oilers finished sixth, one point behind KCB.

MMUST came in seventh with 10 points, tied with Nondescript in eighth. Blak Bad are ninth with eight points, one ahead of fellow varsity side Daystar, who are in tenth place.

Nakuru RFC and Homeboyz Rugby both have five points and occupy the 11th and 12th positions, respectively, having lost in the Bowl semi-finals.

UoE Trojans and Mwamba RFC are in 13th and 14th positions, respectively, with three and two points each, after competing in the Shield finals. Impala RFC and Kisumu RFC are at the bottom of the table with a single point each.

The Sevens National Rugby Circuit now heads to Kakamega County for the Ingoo Sevens, scheduled for August 3rd-4th at the Kakamega Showgrounds.
