‘The park entry payment system has been restored’ – KWS
The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has confirmed the restoration of their park entry payment system.
In an update shared, the wildlife agency stated that the payment system is now fully operational for interested users after a two-hour outage.
“Update: We are pleased to inform you that the payment system has been restored and is now fully operational,” the statement reads in parts.
According to the wildlife agency, the downtime was caused by technical challenges halting payment procedures.
KWS added that all parks and reserves were affected and they were working with the eCitizen team to resolve the issue. They further apologised to customers for the inconvenience caused by the downtime.
“We wish to inform the public that we are currently experiencing technical challenges with our payment system in all parks and reserves. We are working with the eCitizen team to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
“We apologize for any inconvenience caused at the point of entry and will communicate immediately once the issue is resolved,” KWS said.

Launched in August 2023, the cashless payment system was rolled out by the Kenya Kwanza administration in a move meant to digitize government services and curb corruption.
“All park entry payments shall be made through the eCitizen government platform. Note that other forms of payments shall not be accepted at the KWS Parks, Reserves, and Sanctuaries,” KWS confirmed in a statement last year.
