The first half saw a close contest, with Elvis Namusasi’s penalty being the only score. However, the game exploded into action in the second half, marked by relentless scoring and dramatic moments.
Maina’s try followed by Ongo’s penalty extended the Cheetahs’ lead, but Namusasi’s accurate kicking narrowed the gap for the Lions. Yellow cards were handed out to players from both teams, adding to the tension on the field.
Kenya Simbas winger Beldad Ogeta’s try further boosted the Cheetahs’ lead, with Philip Okeyo’s penalty adding more points. Although the Lions fought back with a converted try by Manasseh Oduor, it wasn’t enough to snatch victory as the final whistle blew.
In another match, the Buffaloes clinched their first win of the Rugby Super Series with a 27-21 victory over the Rhinos.
Griffin Chao’s outstanding performance on the left wing played a crucial role in the victory for the Max Adaka-coached side.
Both teams showed determination to secure their first win of the series, with Rhinos initially taking the lead through John Aswani’s try. However, Chao’s brilliance helped the Buffaloes level the scores, setting the stage for an intense battle.
