KWS recruitment
The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) recruitment of rangers and assistant wardens enters its second day as youths across the country turn up in numbers for the process.
KWS initiated a five-day nationwide recruitment exercise, beginning on April 15, 2024, to hire 1,350 rangers and 150 cadets for the position of assistant wardens.
The recruitment drive is a response to the current wildlife protection challenges faced by the country.
Interviews were conducted on the first day of the exercise across several counties, including Lamu, Marsabit, Isiolo, Embu, Kitui, Machakos, Turkana, West Pokot, Samburu, Nandi, Migori, and Kisii.
Blackout
Kenya Power announced a temporary blackout scheduled for Wednesday, April 17, affecting Machakos County.
In a statement shared on Tuesday, April 16, the utility company cited network maintenance as the reason for the blackout.
The affected areas in Machakos County include parts of Mombasa Road. The blackout is scheduled to begin at 9:00 am. and last until 5:00 pm.
Kenya Power provided a list of specific areas within Machakos County that will be affected by the outage.
These areas include Gimu Est, Greenpark Est, Graylands, Athi River Business Park, National Housing, Wrigley’s, Top Tank, Kinanie Shopping, Gilbi Business Park, Moke Gardens, Karibu Homes, Msafiri, Samora Police, Paradise Park, Nyaani, Kimongo, Lukenya Excellence Girls, and adjacent customers.
