A 14-year-old boy yesterday arrived at Chewoyet Boys’ High School in West Pokot without any of the requirements needed by the school after walking for three days to get there.

Emmanuel Wekesa, who was in his former primary school uniform, said he walked from Webuye  to secure his place at the school.

When he arrived at the institution, he looked tired and hungry, attracting sympathy from the school principal, who ordered food for him before making any other move.

The boy was later admitted to the institution. Wekesa, who scored 376 marks,  said he made the journey after his parents asked him to repeat Class Eight due to lack of fees.

School principal Barasa Kiminisi said they have 422 Form One slots and only 376 students have reported.
