Kakamega Homeboyz sign duo to strengthen squad
Football Kenya Federation Premier League side Kakamega Homeboyz have confirmed the signings of two players.
Homeboyz have moved to strengthen their playing unit in the ongoing transfer window as the second round of the Premier League gathers more speed.
Nobert Onyango Ochieng has been signed from St Peters Mumias Boys High School, but the details of his contract have not been made public.
“We are delighted to announce we have acquired the services of talented youngster Nobert Onyango Ochieng. The skilled offensive player joins us from St. Peter’s Mumias Boys High School.
“Welcome, Nobert,” Homeboyz said.
Homeboyz have also brought on board experienced defender Salim Odeka, who has been signed from Tanzania’s Geita Gold FC.
“We are delighted to announce we have acquired the services of defender Salim Hamisi Odeka. Odeka joins us from Tanzanian Premier League side Geita Gold FC.
“Karibu Hamisi,” the club added.
After showing great intent to challenge for the Premier League title, Homeboyz look to have run out of steam. They were among the top three clubs before a recent slump in their performance saw them drop to the eighth position.
Odeka’s arrival is expected to solidify the backline that has conceded 17 goals in 20 games so far. He is also set to bring in the necessary experience, especially with the exit of Robinson Kamura.
Although he is not expected to slot directly into the starting XI, Ochieng will first earn the necessary experience and eventually develop into a top forward.
Meanwhile, reports are rife that former Premier League winner Shafik Batambuze is set to join the club. The former Gor Mahia, Western Stima, Wazito, and Sofaaka defender has been training with the Bukhungu club.
His move is expected to be finalised before the transfer window closes on Thursday, February 8.
Next for Homeboyz is a FKF Premier League match against KCB at Police Sacco Pavillion in South C on Sunday, February 11.
