Ex-AFC Leopards midfielder recalls six-year nostalgic moments at the den
South Sudan’s midfielder Musa Saad has recalled his nostalgic moments in the Football Keya Federation Premier League with AFC Leopards.
Saad confirmed he is leaving the 12-time Premier League champions after six years of association since his arrival from Thika United in 2018.
“In 2018, I joined one of the greatest teams in Africa, the AFC Leopards from Thika United. It has been a journey, and I give thanks to the Almighty,” Saad said in his farewell message.
Fight against injuries
Although he is happy leaving the club after memorable moments, the attacking midfielder had to endure injuries during his time with Ingwe.
“In 2021, we went on and on until I got a shoulder injury playing against City Stars, but I was playing with the feeling of being out every time, so I was tapping it up every time I was on the field.
“In 2022, it became worse after playing Djibouti in the AFCON group stage play-offs. I came out in the second half.
“2023’s first game against Ulinzi; after a beautiful game, I injured my ankle again. We went for scans; nothing was there, but I couldn’t play. I was out for a month, damn,” he recalled.
He fought and recovered, and he ended up playing in many games for AFC Leopards and South Sudan’s Bright Stars.
“I came back and played some games, and winning momentum came, and it was amazing after that good run playing with my injured shoulder tying it up.
“I got a call-up (for South Sudan) in May last year, but the shoulder couldn’t get any better and needed surgery. I am grateful to be back on my feet, and I can kick the ball again,” he added.
As he leaves, he remembers the names given to him by the club’s fans.
“My contract is done at the den, but what a journey it has been. Thanks for the beautiful names you gave me; Pass Master, Game Changer!” Musa concluded.
As some players are expected to leave the den, the club is set to sign more, fill the voids, and strengthen the playing unit.
