Unbeaten in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League, Gor Mahia sharpened themselves with two friendlies against Naivas and Vihiga Bullets on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the M-Pesa Foundation Academy.

The friendlies against the National Super League sides ended in victories for the giants, who are looking sharper by the day.

Against Naivas, Gor Mahia managed a 5-1 win, while a 5-0 victory was what they registered against Vihiga Bullets.

Boniface Omondi and Chris Ochieng both registered two goals each, with Benson Omala getting the other against Naivas.

In the match against Vihiga Bullets, Patrick Kaddu, who found the back of the net in the first half, and Mark Shaban, Shariff Musa, and Lloyd Kavuchi scored the other goals in the second half.

Shaban and Musa are among the new signings at Gor Mahia, and the hope is that they will strengthen the attacking department.

AFC Leopards fall

As Gor Mahia registered back-to-back victories, their arch-rivals, AFC Leopards, were unable to beat Nairobi United in their respective friendly.

Ingwe went down by a 3-2 margin, with their new signing Arthur Gitego scoring a brace, but that was not enough to save the day for the Premier League side at NYS Sports Ground.

Gitego has been training with AFC Leopards, although the club has yet to make a public confirmation of his deal.

The loss to the Super League title contenders will be seen as a slight blow to AFC Leopards, who have been on a resurgent trajectory. Ingwe have been in good form since they began their Premier League campaign this year and enjoy a four-match unbeaten run.

When the top-tier resumes, they will face Kariobangi Sharks and hope to get their sixth win of the season.
