Cheche appointed Junior Starlets Head Coach
Former Kenyan International Mildred Cheche has been appointed as the Head Coach for the Kenya U17 Women’s National Team, widely known as Junior Starlets.
The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) officially announced that Cheche will lead the team, while Ann Aluoch is set to assume the role of assistant coach.
Cheche qualification
Both Cheche and Aluoch hold the CAF B license. Currently, Cheche serves as the assistant coach for the senior women’s national team, Harambee Starlets. On the other hand, Ann Aluoch also holds the position of assistant coach for the U15 women’s national team.
“The Football Kenya Federation has named Mildred Cheche as the new head coach of the Junior Starlets, the U17 women’s national team. Ann Aluoch will assist her,” the Federation announced.
“They are both CAF B license holders. Coach Mildred Cheche, in addition to her new role, currently serves as the assistant coach for the senior women’s national team, the Harambee Starlets, as well as the Rising Starlets. Ann Aluoch also currently holds the position of assistant coach for the U15 women’s national team.,” the statement added.
The immediate task for Cheche and Aluoch is to prepare the Kenya U17 squad for the 2024 FIFA U17 World Cup second-round qualifiers.
The Junior Starlets are set to face DR Congo, with the away leg scheduled for February 4, 2024, and the home leg on February 11, 2024.

Cheche and Aluoch were part of a group of 25 coaches who underwent four months of dedicated learning, culminating in their graduation with a third CAF B coaching class in October 6, 2023, at the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE).
The 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, hosted by the Dominican Republic, represents the 8th edition of the tournament.
This event will be the first FIFA tournament hosted by the Dominican Republic, and Spain enters as the two-time defending champion.
