Azimio La Umoja co-principal Martha Karua has described William Ruto’s administration as a rogue regime.

The NARC Kenya leader pointed out various acts the current government has done and said it has failed, especially in listening to the voice of the people and acting accordingly.

The former Gichugu Member of Parliament also talked about the national reconciliation talks and their subsequent report and said she blames Kenya Kwanza for failing to listen to what the people wanted.

“When one shows contempt for the Constitution, the law, and the views of the majority, that is a rogue regime.

“If you look at the public participation in the Finance Act and the NADCO talks, how much of what we heard from the public was put in the report? I blame the Kenya Kwanza regime for its failure to adhere to what the people wanted,” Karua said during an interview with a local TV station.

By comparing Ruto’s government to Daniel Moi’s, Karua added that the current one is faring worse in how it is treating the law.

“During Moi’s era, it was way better because, if you remember, when he wooed opposition members of Parliament and they defected, they would lose their seats, and we would go back to the by-election.

“This is the first time we have a regime that is full of impunity, refuses to adhere to the law, and yet wants to amend it,” she added.

Ruto’s appointments

The appointment made by Ruto is also an issue the opposition leader criticised as the former Justice Minister said most of the appointees did not meet the threshold required by Chapter Six of the Constitution.

“The people whom the Kenya Kwanza regime has put in charge in various places are people who would not have qualified under Chapter Six.

“They appointed unsuitable people, and they cleaned them when they were sitting on the chair or attempted to whitewash them. If KRA is missing its targets, one wonders whether corruption and mismanagement have permeated it,” Karua concluded.
