FKF PL Week 15: Gor Mahia set for Talanta showdown as AFC Leopards take on Homeboyz
The Football Kenya Federation Premier League enters week 15 with three matches lined up for Saturday, December 16, and six more games scheduled for Sunday, December 17 at various grounds.
Murang’a Seal, who have dropped to position six following some poor performances in the latest games, will be in Mbaraki to face host Bandari.
Seal will hope to win and close the gap with the leading pack, while Bandari will need a win that will widen the gap between them and their weekend rivals.
Shabana FC will be at Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay County to welcome Sofapaka. Batoto ba Mungu, who are struggling with players’ boycotts, have however, eased pressure on their shoulders and moved out of the danger zone.
A win over Shabana, 16th with 11 points, will be a further reprieve for the 2009 champions, who spent most of the opening period of the current campaign in the danger zone.
In the third match on Saturday, Police, who are seventh with 21 points, will host fourth-placed KCB in South B. The Bankers will hope to get a win to reduce the gap between them and the league leaders, Gor Mahia, who have 28 points.
Sunday games
Just like the Saturday game, matches scheduled for Sunday will all kick off at 3:00 pm, with the Kariobangi Sharks clashing with Bidco United at Police Pavillion in South C.
Gor Mahia will be at Bukhungu Stadium, where they will be hosted by Talanta. This is a match that the reigning champions will not want to lose, as their main priority is to collect maximum points and speed away from second-placed Kakamega Homeboyz.
On the other hand, Talanta, ninth with 20 points, will hope to frustrate the champions and maybe do what other clubs have failed to do so far: beat K’Ogalo.
Posta Rangers will battle Muhoroni Youth at Machakos Stadium in a game where the eyes will arguably be on the Mailmen to see whether they can win and exert pressure on Homeboyz and Gor Mahia at the top.
Ulinzi Stars will host Nairobi City Stars at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, while Nzoia Sugar will be at Sudi Stadium to face Tusker.
Finally, Homeboyz, who are in impressive form, will battle AFC Leopards at Nyayo Stadium. After suffering a loss to Bidco United in their last game, Ingwe will go to this duel with added pressure.
