Lawyer Henry Kenei (pictured) has retained his seat as the chairman of Law Society of Kenya (LSK), North Rift chapter.

Kenei garnered 269 votes against his sole rival, Elijah Ayiego’s 41 in an election described as free and fair by Returning Officer Andrew Kiboi.

Ayiego conceded defeat and reiterated his commitment to support the elected top branch leaders as they embark to steer the society to greater heights.

“I congratulate lawyer Kenei for winning the seat for a second time and accept the will of majority of the advocates,” said Ayiego who ran an aggressive campaign.

David Tarigo from the Minority Ogiek community, failed in his bid to retain his seat of branch Secretary General after garnering 121 votes against new comer Claire Karuga’s 162 votes in a hotly contested race.

Lawyer Marion Rotich was re-elected back to her seat of branch treasure by more than 1,000 advocates in an election that was held from various polling stations in the North Rift region.

The lawyers from Uasin Gishu County turned up from 8.30am to cast their votes in a peaceful exercise at Eldoret High court polling station.
