The Netherlands-based agricultural machinery manufacturer -CNH Industrial EMEA plans to fast-track partnership with Kenya government and private sector players as part of the efforts to intensify agriculture mechanisation.

CNH Industrial EMEA President Carlo Alberto Sisto said as part of expanding footprints in the African agriculture sector, the company plans to partner with companies dealing with farmers as well the government.

“We are already collaborating with CMC Motors and soon will initiate talks with the Kenyan Government with a view to deepening the mechanization drive to enhance food security and enhance technology transfer,” said Alberto during a training camp hosted recently by CMC Motors in Nairobi.

The company initiated collaboration with CMC Motors following the latter’s exit from the passenger vehicle market and dedicating their efforts to tractors and agriculture-related initiatives. Through its brand – New Holland, the Netherlands based company focuses to deepen its presence in the African agricultural sector mainly in supply of needed machinery to boost food production. Sisto confirmed that his company has initiated talks with the government targeting expanding agriculture mechanisation to boost food production.

He observed that Africa is endowed with vast arable land, young population and favourable climate provides a unique opportunity for agricultural growth, but lacks technical knowledge and resources thus hindering the desired potential.

“Our desire is to work with key partners who have direct connection with farmers. Enhanced agriculture mechanization will help in meeting high food demand,” he added.

CMC Motors Managing director Sakib Eltaff said his company’s focus on the agriculture sector is aimed at addressing current challenges and providing essential training and empowering emerging and medium-scale farmers.

“The announced partnership between CMC Motors and CNH Industrial EMEA is aimed at doubling farm yield production in the next 10 years, providing information to reverse the trend of declining farm yields, promoting sustainable income for farmers and offering service clinics for optimal equipment life,” he added.
