Police in Migori seize bhang worth Ksh1M sandwiched between Omena
Police in Suna West sub-county, Migori county have arrested one suspect and seized bhang worth Ksh1 million hidden in fish sacks.
While confirming the arrest, the county police commander Francis Nguli noted that the illegal goods were found stashed in five sacks and sandwiched between anchovies locally known as Omena.
This was after the police who were acting on a tip-off ambushed the suspect as he driving along the Migori-Rongo highway and upon searching the vehicle, the officers found the illegal goods and arrested the suspect.
Nguli also affirmed the officers’ commitment to fighting against drug abuse and further appealed to the members of the public to join hands in helping police fight the vice.
He equally warned drug traffickers using Probox vans that their days are numbered.
“Officers are on very high alert on the issues of narcotic drugs. We are always on high alert so that the illegal drugs don’t pass across our area into other towns. We are aware that some of them are using Probox, so many drug traffickers are misusing the Toyota Probox but we will catch them,” he stated.
Nguli went on to state that the suspect, aged 32, was frogmarched to the police station and is currently in custody pending arraignment in court.
The bhang was also moved into police custody and is set to be availed in court as an exhibit.

“Pia tumeona wanafanya ukora ingine kama ya kuiba. Tumepata vitu ya wizi, kama viti na electronics tumepata pia mbuzi walikua wanachinja. Walikua wanachinja mbuzi ili washerehekee and thats how also came to discover kuna bangi hii mahali,” police said.
This loosely translates to;
“We have arrested some suspects but we are yet to arrest the masterminds because they escaped. It’s strange that the church has been selling bhang to congregants.
“We have also discovered that they are involved in theft because we have recovered stolen goods such as furniture and electronics, we also caught them slaughtering goats to celebrate,”
Police lauded the locals and confirmed that the suspects will be arraigned in court.
