‘You don’t win every game of the season’- Gor Mahia coach reflects on Bidco draw
Gor Mahia’s head coach, Johnathan McKinstry, has emphasized the need for an improved performance from his team, acknowledging that winning every game throughout the season isn’t a necessity.
The reigning FKF Premier League champions played to a goalless draw against Bidco United in a match held on Saturday.
Gor Mahia coach comments
McKinstry pointed out that the game could have swung in either direction, with both teams making crucial goalline clearances.
“You have to take your chances whenever they present themselves. They cleared one off the line, we cleared one off the line from a corner. So the game could have gone either way off the set pieces and keeping that clean sheet was important,” he said in a post-match interview.
McKinstry cited the previous season when Gor Mahia secured 20 wins and 10 draws on their path to winning the league.
Gor Mahia need for improvement
He emphasized the importance of accumulating points, particularly against a team like Bidco, who have suffered just one loss this season. While recognizing the significance of the point gained, he stressed the need for an overall improvement in performance.
“Look, the longer you go and pick up points, you don’t win every game of the season. Last season we had 20 wins and 10 draws, you have to keep on picking up points. Like we said, only one team this season has managed to beat Bidco United. We will reflect on this at the end of the season and think it is a positive enough point but overall the performance needs to come up,” he added.
In their next match, Gor Mahia FC are set to face Shabana.
