Menengai Oilers-KCB rematch
This encounter will mark a rematch of the Kenya Cup semi-final, which KCB won to secure their place in the 2022/23 final.
“It’s an exciting fixture for us on Saturday against one of the top sides in the competition and essentially the entire country. Playing against such a strong team will offer us a genuine assessment of our preseason progress,” he told Oilers media.
The coach shared that the team’s preparations have been positive, with the players displaying high energy levels and a positive attitude leading up to Saturday’s match.
Menengai Oilers selection
Regarding the squad selected for the semi-final, Weru expressed satisfaction and emphasized the importance of excelling in set pieces.
“The technical team is very content with the squad we’ve assembled. While the boys performed admirably against Impala, the semi-finals presented a wholly different challenge. This week, our focus is on ensuring our strength in set pieces, taking care of possession, and positioning the game in the right areas,” Weru stated.
He acknowledged that the team’s defence is a work in progress, particularly their transition from offence to defence.
