Harambee Stars‘ left-back, Eric Ouma, achieved a significant milestone in his football career by making over 100 league appearances in the Sweden.

This remarkable feat was reached following AIK Football’s 1-0 victory over Mjällby in a league match that took place at the Friends Arena in Solna on Saturday.

Before the match, he was presented with a jersey with his name and 100 on it to signify his appearance.

Ouma played a vital role in this match, featuring for the full 90 minutes, and his team secured maximum points, which propelled them seven points clear of the relegation zone. AIK currently hold a record of eight wins, seven draws, and 11 losses, accumulating a total of 31 points.

Popularly known as Marcelo, Ouma has amassed 82 league appearances for AIK, amassing a total of 6940 minutes on the pitch and contributing four goals to his team’s cause. He had earlier made 19 appearances for Vasalund, bringing his total to 101 appearances.

Eric Ouma’s best season

The year 2021 marked one of Ouma’s best seasons, as he started in 29 matches, accumulating a total of 2594 minutes of playing time for the club.

Ouma, who hails from Nairobi, Kenya, began his professional career by signing a six-month contract with Gor Mahia in January 2016. His contract was subsequently renewed until the end of the year during the summer.

After leaving Gor Mahia when his contract expired, Ouma embarked on a journey that took him to various clubs, including Georgian club Kolkheti Poti in January 2017 and Albanian club KS Kastrioti in February 2018. By September 2018, he was playing for the Swedish club Vasalund.

In 2020, Ouma made the move to AIK, where he has continued to make a significant impact.
