Uganda names body-building squad for Eldoret event

Uganda has named a seven-member masculine squad for the EZA Mr. and Miss east Africa Natural Bodybuilding Championships set for Eldoret this weekend.

Among the notables members in the team is reining Mr. Uganda Godfrey Lubega. Others are Abdul Nasser Mwanje, Hussein Kato, Shamim Mukyala, Aksam Kiseka and Asafu Tamale.

Lubega, the most experienced amongst the Eldoret-bound squad, exuded confidence of performing well in the event.

“I want to convey a message to all my supporters and fellow Ugandans that I already feel like a champion and I’m resolutely committed to returning with a medal. SAs Mr. Uganda I’m sending a clear warning to all Kenyans that I’m arriving to demonstrate my mastery in the sport,” Lubega told a Ugandan Daily.

Lubega’s coach Kenny Ssekiranda was also upbeat about the bodybuilders chance to make an impression in the championship.

“We are diligently working round the clock to ensure that Lubega, who will be competing in the in the 80-85 kilogrammes achieves the necessary form,” said Ssekiranda.

He added: “We are fine-tuning the final details.”
