36,000 teachers to benefit in new promotion cycle

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has advertised 36,275 positions for promotion in line with Career Progression Guidelines for teachers.


In a public notice, TSC Secretary Nancy Macharia says the vacancies are for Chief Principal, Senior Principal, Principals, Deputy Principal, Senior Lecturer, Senior Master, Secondary Teacher I, Head teacher, Deputy head teacher and senior teacher.


“Pursuant to its mandate, the Commission invites applications from suitably qualified teachers for the posts shown below in line with the Career Progression Guidelines for Teachers,” said Macharia.
Interested candidates, who meet the required qualifications are expected to submit their applications through the TSC portal latest September 8.


Manual applications will not be considered.


The position of Senior Master IV for regular school job group C4 has the highest vacancies totaling 12,716 followed by Senior Teacher II for regular primary school at 10,819 in grade C2 then Senior Teacher I for regular primary schools at 3,040 and in group C3.


TSC is also seeking to promote 1,930 Deputy head teachers for regular schools, who are in job group C4 and 1,928 Secondary Teacher I for regular schools.


Some 1,142 Senior Master III for regular schools in job group C5, 1,057 Deputy Principal III for regular schools in grade D1, 700 Senior Teacher II for Special Needs Education primary school in grade C2, 547 Deputy Principal II for regular schools and 541 Principals for regular schools in grade D3.


Others are 346 Senior Teacher I for SNE, 216 Senior Lecturer for Teachers Training Colleges (TTC), 108 positions for Senior Principal Regular school, 72 Senior Lecturer I (TTC), 34 Chief Principals and 30 Head Teachers for SNE primary schools.
