Two suspected al Shabaab militants killed in Garissa

Four civilians and two suspected al-Shabaab militants were killed on Tuesday morning after attackers attempted to gain entry into a police post in Dadaab, Garissa County.

“The criminal gang had targeted a telecom mast and in the process, four innocent lives were lost,” read a statement by the National Police Service.

Police on border patrol responded to the attack and overpowered the attackers.

In the battle, the police recovered two AK47 RIFLES, raw materials for making Improvised Explosive Device(IED) and an assortment of other weapons.

Two al-Shabaab attackers were killed by police.

A hunt for the rest of the attackers is ongoing.

The Dadaab attack comes after al-Shabaab militants attacked an army base in Lamu on Sunday, January 5.

In the Lamu attack, five militants were killed.

One US citizen also died during the attack.
