Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale on Saturday, May 27, 2023, struggled to address mourners who kept interrupting his speech.

This was after the senator attempted to explain the importance of passing the Finance Bill 2023 and other proposals made by the national government.

Khalwale who was speaking during politician Joseph Amisi’s burial ceremony in Navakholo, Kakamega county, refuted claims that there was an increase in taxation stating that the accurate Finance Bill 2023 is yet to be read in June.

Maneno ya kodi lazima mjue mwenye amekuambia kodi imeongezwa is speaking from his own imagination, Budget Bill itasomwa next month,” he stated.

The charged crowd immediately bashed him noting that he was spewing lies.

He also faulted the previous regime for borrowing ‘extensively’ and blocking all other areas that the government can borrow money from.

Government all over the world pesa yenye wanatumia kupunguza gharama ya maisha hua inapatikana kwa njia mbili pekee yake, njia ya kwanza ni hio serikali kukopa pesa, Uhuru amekopa pesa hakuna mahali ya kukopa pesa. (To which the crowd shouted Uongoo) Njia ya pili ambayo ndio mbaya, ambayo inaumiza kila mtu ni njia ya ushuru,” he added.

The crowd continued booing the senator despite him insisting on addressing them.
