Shabana FC’s cruise continued Sunday as their dream of returning to the Premier League became stronger after two decades out even as the Nyanza region is keen to make a huge comeback into the country’s top flight football with three teams in the top four as the chase persists.

Coach Sammy Okoth is rallying his Boys to stay alive until the very end. “I do not want to think of history beckoning when in fact the job is not yet done.We will take our victory in stride and treat every game seriously.I will always urge my players to go for the kill but also respect opponents.We have a target and so far the view is great but we cannot get carried away yet. There is still a couple of games to go.”

Tore Bobe are now on 57 points off 25 matches played with the Kisii based side having won 18 matches and have a standing goal difference of +32. Gusii based Shabana have eight games to bring it home for their fans who have been patient for glory days.On Sunday,they thumped visiting Coastal Heroes 5-0 to showcase dominance and great hunger.

Shabana are keen to get back to glory days of Dogo Khan as Team Boss and Henry Motego as star man.The team that also featured the likes of former international duo Mike Okoth and Ken Kenyatta has been the pride of Nyanza football for ages alongside the now fallen Sony Sugar FC and Chemelil Sugar FC.

Meanwhile, fellow title-challengers Muranga Seal FC in second place smashed Vihiga United FC 5-0 at their St.Sebastian Park Grounds to keep pace with the leaders. The Seal Team are on 48 points with a match in hand as they seek to become the third team from Central Region after Thika United and Bidco United to represent the region in the big time. Vincent Nyaberi’s men were in control straight from the start whistle with John Kiplangat opening the scoring in the fourth minute of play with a rasping shot from the 18 yard area. Titus Kapchanga had the second in the 29th minute and Wilson Kamau netted the third in the 48th minute after a good darting run after beating the opposing defenders. Seal were hungry for more with Titus Kapchanga scoring his second of the game in the 54th minute with Eric Juma closing the rout in the 78th minute.

Elsewhere,third placed Migori Youth came good following a 3-0 drubbing of Naivas FC at Migori Stadium. Kevin Oluoch’s side made a statement of intent with an all-round performance. Goals by Wycliffe Omondi in the 2nd minute,Brian Junior in the 34th minute and Kevin Haggai in the 94th minute were enough to push the border team to 47 points off 25 games with 13 wins thus far. The Retail side in seventh place on their part are on 35 points off 23 games.Oluoch has a chance to get to Premiership Playoffs going by their decent run so far.

In other games played at the weekend,Mara Sugar FC got the better off Mully Children’s Family FC 1-0 at their own Kenyatta Stadium. The lone goal came via Brian Ochieng in the 18th minute of play to push the sugarmen to 35 points.MCF on their part are ninth on the log with 32 points. At Eldamat Stadium,visiting SS Assad beat Kajiado FC at home 3-2 while Mombasa Elite beat hosts Kisumu All-Stars 2-1 at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu.Goals by James Katana in the 40th minute and Matthew Tegisi in the 83rd minute was enough to give Elite full points.
