Kenya Kwanza alliance has up to tomorrow to initiate the bipartisan talks failing which Azimio la Umoja will resort to mass action, Opposition leader Raila Odinga has declared.

On Wednesday, Azimio called off its planned protests for Thursday after the Kenya Kwanza removed Eldas MP Adan Keynan from its seven-member delegation for the national dialogue.

“We have given them today (Monday) and tomorrow (today). The talks must start in earnest on Wednesday. If the Kenya Kwanza delegation will not be ready on Wednesday, we will treat the gentlemen’s agreement as cancelled and we will explore other options available to us,” Raila warned.

Speaking while addressing the press flanked by Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua, Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni and George Wajackoyah of Roots Party, Raila accused the ruling coalition of not showing good faith towards the talks

“We acted in good faith to call off the demonstrations last Thursday because Kenya Kwanza had approached us and told us they were ready for the talks and that they had removed Keynan from their delegation. We knew the reason why they approached us was because there were visitors in town and they didn’t want demonstrations at that time. Now we are seeing signs of reluctance from the government side with all manner of excuses like members being absent and lack of quorum to begin discussions,” he said.

Last week the Opposition demanded that the bipartisan talks must be concluded in 30 days after commencement warning that they would resort to other available options in case of mischief from the government side.

“We will not hesitate to resort to alternative measures at the slightest indication of lack of goodwill and honesty on the Kenya Kwanza side. If, through intransigence, delay tactics and other aspects of stonewalling Kenya Kwanza forces us to abandon the talks, there shall be no turning back,” Azimio leader Eugene Wamalwa said.
