Top local premier league contenders Shabana FC and Kibera Black Stars FC will be keen to forget their recent losses in the National Super League Championship.

Both sides will today headline seven midweek ties across the country as the battle for honors continues unabated. League leaders Shabana on 39 points were stunned last week in a 3-1 loss away to lowly SS Assad FC at Shamu Grounds in Ukunda. Sammy Okoth’s men have currently a goal difference of +17 off 12 wins and have dropped unexpected points in three games which has slowed down their momentum a bit.

Tomorrow afternoon, the former Premier League outfit hosts 10th placed Mombasa Elite FC who are presently on 26 points and have collected seven points altogether in the last five games played. ‘Tore Bobe’ as Shabana are known by their fans, has won all but one game in their past five meetings and therefore at Gusii Stadium are finely poised if at all they want to open the current four point gap. Elite have seven wins thus far but only a minimal goal difference of +2.

As for Black Stars whose last game saw them go down 2-1 to Mombasa Elite last Friday, they face Vihiga United FC at Ligi Ndogo Grounds. In their last meetings, the slum boys had the advantage of two wins against one loss. The Black Stars are in fifth place with 30 points in the bag off 19 games played with a goal difference of +10.Vihiga on their part is in 15th place currently with 11 points off 17 matches and are still not off the woods yet in the relegation fight. Black Stars have won only once in the last five matches and just like Shabana have been grossly inconsistent in their performances.

In another exciting match lined up today at Mbaraki Sports Club, neighbors Coastal Heroes and Mwatate United FC do battle. Both are provisionally safe and this duel could go either way depending on strategy and urgency of either team. Heroes in 11th place have 22 points after an indifferent campaign in the League having won only six matches in 20 games played. On their part, Mwatate have17 points in the bag off 18 games and are in 13th place. In their last four games, both sides have won a game apiece and two matches ended in ties.
