Nairobi here I come
Jamaican sensational sprinter Shelly Anne Fraser-Pryce has confirmed her participation in the much-awaited Kip Keino Classic tour set for May 13, 2023 at Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi.
Fraser-Pryce who is the reigning world 100 meter’s champion and world silver medallist in the 200 metres race, is among the first top athletes to confirm participation in this year’s edition of the annual Continental Tour race with men’s commonwealth champion Ferdinand Omanyala also warming up to the event.
It will be the second time the three-time Olympic champion will be competing in Kenya, having made her debut last year at the same one-day competition.
“We are proud to announce Shelly Ann Fraser-Pryce will be attending and participating at #AbsaKipKeinoClassic2023. Kasarani Stadium, 13th May 2023,” a message from the organisers read in part.
During last year’s edition, Fraser thrilled fans at the Kasarani stadium with her personal best of 10.67 seconds win which led to her setting a world-leading time.
The Jamaican will grace the 2nd continental tour in Botswana on the 29th of this Month, before competing in Kenya.
World 100M champion Fred Kerley of the USA, and Olympic 100M champion Marcel Jacobs of Italy are among the top athletes who competed in last year’s meeting, and with the event growing bigger names are expected to show up during the 2023 edition.
