Kigumo Member of Parliament (MP) Joseph Munyoro said no amount of effort by Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition will destabilise the government.

Munyoro said the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) government is well-grounded and the President is focused on delivering services to the people.

Speaking at his backyard while issuing bursary cheques to the needy students, the MP said the rallies being organized by Azimio leader Raila Odinga will have no impact on the government.

He said the opposition has constantly been attacking the UDA administration which is only a few months in office in an attempt to discredit it in the eyes of the public.

“I don’t think this strategy will work for them because they are the minority and we are the majority with the popular mandate,” he said.

Munyoro also said there is nothing fishy about the Head of State meeting leaders from any part of the country regardless of their political affiliation.

Further, he said President William Ruto has been very clear that he will not entertain any negotiations for a possible handshake or coalition government.

“The President has been very clear that he would not give any room for a coalition government and this clears any doubt that there could be something cooking,” he added.

He said the elected leaders have the right to meet the President to discuss the issues that are affecting their people.

“The country is in a crisis and the leaders should put their heads together to come up with a solution for their people.

“The uproar from the Azimio side is uncalled for because meeting the president does not necessarily mean shifting of camps,” he said.

Azimio’s role

Munyoro, however, said the leaders in Azimio should stick to the opposition and ensure they play their oversight role because that is their mandate.

“Those in opposition should remain in opposition because they can’t be in government.

“Their work is to put us in check if we pass any bill or policy that is not favourable to the people, they should criticize it,” he added.

About 6,000 students benefited from the bursary program.
