Boost for Jaguars as tech company DTE extends support

Men’s hockey team, Jaguars, received a major boost for the second year running after a regional ICT company extended its sponsorship, following their latest top-three win in the league and for qualifying for the Africa Club Championship (ACC).

Down To Earth Technologies (DTE) presented the cheque to the team at City Park rink where they have been training for the ACC that starts on the 13th of February. The donation will go a long way in helping the team achieve its goals. The funds will be used to upgrade the team’s equipment and support their hockey initiatives.

Speaking at the ceremony, Regional Sales Manager, Perez Omondi commended the team on their dedication and proof of achievement on the league and at ACC.

“DTE is excited to support this group of young hockey players, who are growing from stride to stride in their effort to spearhead the growth of Kenyan hockey. The donation allows us to continue to promote the sport of hockey in Kenya and Africa as a whole and inspire the next generation of players,” Omondi said.

The technology company has been a long-time supporter of hockey and has shown a strong commitment to the local hockey community.

“Hockey like any other sport is key to unlocking talent and progressing the agenda of government on sports and sporting.

“DTE is determined to walk this journey with government and sports lovers especially hockey as a sport,” Omondi added.

The sponsorship of Sh1 million given to Jaguars entails Sh250,000 for finishing top three place at the league and the additional Sh750,000 for their upcoming participation at the ACC.

While receiving the donations Jaguars team manager Castro Kaluna hailed DTE for the continued support as it amplified the morale of his charges.

“Jaguars would like to express its sincere gratitude to DTE for this generous donation. The team is committed to using these funds to make a positive impact and to continue to provide high-quality hockey programmes,” Kaluna said.
