A man has died after suspected members of a gang unleashed terror in parts of Kisauni, Mombasa County yesterday morning.

The attacks, believed to have been executed by members of Wakali Kwanza gang, left six people seriously wounded.

Yesterday, Frere Town Assistant Chief Hilaria Farahhe confirmed that one of the victims, a boda boda rider, died as he was being treated at the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital.

“I have received reports that one of my area residents who was attacked has died while receiving treatment at Coast General Hospital. He was attacked by suspected members of Wakali Kwanza. We are yet to establish his identity since he had no identification documents,” Farahhe said.

Victims who encountered the wrath of the blood-thirsty gang narrated how they were attacked while on their way to work or school.

Dennis Ororwo, 45, sustained deep cuts on his head and arms after the gang attacked him on his way to work at around 5.30 am.

“As I waited for a matatu at Mwandoni stage a group of heavily armed youths descended on me from behind and began attacking me. As I tried to run, they cornered me and stole my phone, and money before slashing my three fingers and hitting me on the head. I was rescued by a good Samaritan who rushed me here,” he said in his hospital bed.

Neema Kosta said she was attacked with his son while on their way to Shimo La Tewa secondary school.

Robert Nzomo is at the Intensive Care Unit after he was attacked by members of the gang. He sustained injuries in the hands, head and wrists.
