The simmering hostility been between Nyandarua governor and area Woman Rep has boiled over, with relief food being the new launching pad of the war.

Governor Moses Kiarie Badilisha has accused Woman Rep Faith Gitau of “monopolising the distribution of the relief food for political gain.”

“This is food from the national government and its distribution should not be a preserve of one person,” the governor said during Jamhuri Day celebrations in Ol Kalou town. “This must stop. That person should be told enough is enough and if she continues to lock up the food, we are going to raid the stores, remove it and give it to deputy county commissioners to distribute.”

Efforts to reach the Woman Rep were unsuccessful.

She has been posting on social media photos herself and MCAs distributing relief food in various parts of Nyandarua.

The photos are usually accompanied by text emphasizing that the food is from national government.

County Commissioner Amos Mariba called for the establishment of committees to oversee the distribution of relief food in the county.
