At least 59 cholera cases have been confirmed in Tana River. Executive Committee Member for Health Javan Bonaya said most of the patients are hospitalised in various health facilities.
He said cases reported so far are in Madogo division in Bangale sub-county. Addressing the media yesterday, Bonaya said the cases were detected after a Kenya Certificate of Primary Education candidate at Boji Primary School succumbed to cholera-related complications.
County Director of Education Isaac Khalif also said four KCPE candidates at Boji were forced to sit for their examination in the hospital after testing positive to the disease. Residents have been urged to observe high standards of cleanliness to avoid being infected.
