Nakuru police pledge to secure exams, end-year festivities

Security has been beefed up and patrols enhanced in Nakuru County ahead of the national examinations scheduled to start next week.

County Police Commander Peter Mwanzo, who was accompanied by Governor Susan Kihika, yesterday said police were on high alert to ensure the exams and Christmas festivities are orderly and safe.

“We have taken stringent measures to ensure people are safe as they make merry and also candidates as they sit examinations. Security officers will conduct regular patrols,” he said.

Mwanzo (pictured) said police will cover areas targeted by criminals, particularly shopping centres and crowded areas adding that uniformed and plain clothes police officers will carry out patrols.

“We have discussed with the governor a number of issues and see on how the police can conduct their work with a smooth partnership,” said Mwanzo.

He said they had succeeded in containing gangs in the county, except in a few isolated areas.
