Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has sought a weather advisory during the examination period.

Machogu (pictured) wrote to his Environment and Forestry counterpart Soipan Tuya to grant the advisory for the period between November 28 and December 23 for proper planning and smooth delivery of exams.

He made the request amid fears that the ongoing rains could hamper smooth delivery of exam papers. The exams start next week.

“In order to properly and comprehensively plan for this exercise, kindly provide us with a weather advisory covering the said period. This will enable us to anticipate weather changes and equip our team with information to effectively deliver the exams,” said the CS in a letter dated November 16.

Machogu said the Ministry had mapped the country according to routes and arrangements to transport examination materials to designated centres across the country was underway.

Three exams

The CS said this was no ordinary examination season, since the Ministry will be administering three exams at ago to 3,416,048 candidates.

Of these, 1,287,597 will sit the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) at Grade 6, while 1,244,188 will be sitting the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).

Another 884,263 will be sitting the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
